A Lullable sleep story
The Dinosaurs: From Rule to Ruin
Drift through the rise, reign, and quiet fading of the dinosaurs in a calm story of deep time. You move slowly across changing continents and warm shallow seas, through long ages when giants grazed in the light of an older sun, and follow the traces they left behind in stone — a world that never fully ended, still with us in every morning’s birdsong.
The ending, given away now, per house rules: let the great herds fade back into the mist. There is nothing else to wait for, which is the point.
The first minute
The day is done, and you have done enough of it. Whatever is unfinished will still be there tomorrow, patient as furniture. You can set it all down now. Let the mattress take over. Holding you up is its entire career. Let your forehead smooth out. Let your hands uncurl. Let your breath slow down to the pace it keeps when nobody is measuring it. Tonight we are going a very long way back. Not to another place. To another time. We are going to drift through the age of the dinosaurs, from its quiet beginning to its quiet inheritance.…
Why this one works at night
Deep time moves slowly here. Every age in this story settled into stillness long ago, and nothing in it asks anything of you tonight. The pace is slow and steady, and the whole of it is ancient, vast, hushed. Nothing in it asks to be followed closely, which is what makes it easy to let go of.
“…Some dinosaurs lived where you might think none could, and they teach us the most about patience—”
The Dinosaurs: From Rule to Ruin is 40 minutes long, in the synthesised voice of Arthur from Ludlow, and ends quieter than it begins. It lives in the Lullable app.
